teachers' day

happy teachers' day (: all the super teachers!

YES! muddy planked 6 min on tuesday! muahahahhaha

happy now (: eating apples

yay, got my specs back today, thanks javine (: wheeeee, haha, muddy's specs got gg on monday. muddy left the specs on er.. specs gall, then got stepped. so muddy had to dig out the contacts that's been sitting on the sink since alma mater. and u noe what?

specs limit your vision; you can only clearly see whatever that's lying within those two little lenses. anything outside is is blurry for 600 degrees people. anw, somehow this time the contacts fit better and it's been a long while since muddy got 'perfect vision'! wheeeeeeee (:

the joys of not having to adjust your specs periodically, or worry abt condensation stepping out of aircon, and the fun of being able to just wipe your face after a good long run without knocking your specs off! now muddy's feeling a little weird wearing specs, wheeeeeee.

oh... finished the apples, time to get some more!

ok, last apple already! wheeeeeee

this is random, finally figured out what's been bugging muddy: i get damn irritated with people who don't follow through on their commitments. if you're not willing to work towards it, don't promise anything. to muddy, promise=hope. breaking too many promises destroys trust i guess.

anw, WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

a perfect long break to trainstudyeatsleep. yay (:

wheeeee day 45

7 August 10.4 km (26 rounds) 1h 20 minutes
28 August 11.2 km (28 rounds) 1 h 10 minutes

yay (:

today's a really good day for muddy (:

chionged PW report, so more or less settled. geog lecture by mr kamal was super interesting (: went to see mrs ng during break for econs, quite productive (: then lalala, GP didn't fall asleep! 1 and a half hours!

then went to play... 10 x 10! yay, that last time i did that was 1st august. and went to gym, wheeeeeee, 14 plates! all the small ones plus one bigger plate for bench press! YES! tmr muddy will attempt 130 pounds=confirm more than muddy's weight!

physics H3 wasn't very engaging, got gged from questions 5-7. out of 12 questions i think.

then muddy went to run! wheeeeeeee (: was dismissed early from physics, so started running at 6pm and ended at 7.10pm. 28 rounds= 11.2km thank you thank you! (: running's good for relaxing and ggxx, my shoes are super nice for running! bouncing on the track instead of piaking my shins, haha. very good, that's the way muddy! train hard, be imba, then get pro equipment and whack, haha (: yay, die 2.4 die! only 6 rounds.. that's not even 1 quarter of what muddy ran today!

wheeeeee, positive reaffirments make muddy train even harder (: shawna, shmote and noisan!, er.. mrs ng, siaurui, yang, florence, sruthi, joohui, elisa, gerald, amanda, shawn, wenloong, javine, janice (: sometimes our actions might seem insignificant, but it does make that difference, the difference between pia-ing one more round, one more pullup, thanks (: yay, i think i'm uber lucky.

muddy's feeling very powerful (: wheeeee

Monday, August 28, 2006

wheeeeeee

yay (:

DIE PW DIE! muahahahhahha

muddy's becoming even more confident of last minute pia-ing skills. (which of course is reserved specially for projects and un-fun stuff)

fun stuff like mugging for promos must be done way before to maximise utility! muahahahahha (:

looks like there is is tremendous support for muddy to be pe teacher, thank you thank you.

wheeee, notice muddy is trying to use big words, muahahah, all "gleamed" from the "plethora" of words "blatantly" er... koped from the 1100 words book. muahahahahha

a dog is known as a mastiff
reprehensible is blameworthy
impugnacious means aggressive, war-like
stymie means to hinder
and many other more cheem words

suppose to do one exercise a day (only 15 minutes a day!). the first time i laid hands on the book, i did 2 week's worth.

today's the second time i'm working on the book. and guess what? i'm at week TEN now! imba? imba! week 10, that's 8 week's worth, 40 days worth plus abt 10 miscellaneous exercises.

40 days work=40 days x 15 minutes= 600minutes=10hours

muddy took less than 2 hours.

YES! i'll finish the book by this hols, then i'll go get the evil red bk, the right word, heard it's much harder.

yay, tmr is a happy day (:

some meeting in the morning at 7 if i'm right
1 hour each- physics, geog, math
break (econs with mrs ng: saving muddy's essay)
1.5 hour each- gp, pw
break (yay, play (:
4-6 H3 physics... haven't done my tutorial yet
6-7+ 28 rounds, muahahhahahaha, yes muddy you will do it! yay, finally replaced my shoes (after extreme race, after 26 rounds, after canoe duathlon, after... yep, made sure i settle everything today!) think i'll wear the nicely seasoned pair to laos (:

btw, newbalance is having some 30-40% discount at most shops at queensway. can easily get a pair under $100. yep, got mine for abt 80, should last till next yr! yay (:

my first pair of newbalance was some white shoe (rg sch rules then), lasted from sec 1-4! super worn out, all the grooves evened out, all the cushioning flattened. hm.. what else? oh yarh, the heel was chipping off from all that friction.

second pair: the nice black/grey one that lasted from sec 3 till now! super functional, went through standard chartered, trainings, imba running, everything with it! both left and right shoe starting splitting open at the inward facing seams, quite cool, can see the different layers of shoe material. yep, figred i flattened this pair too, all the grooves gone, even the nice little "Ndurance" is blurry.

and intro to the 3rd pair! it's yellow and black! all the other nb shoes were white plus some streaks of colour. um.. looks good for running, and purposely picked a slightly fitting one so it's lighter and can run faster! muahahahahahha (: figured the other 2 pairs were ok in terms of width but lenght wise a bit too large. new balance is super cool, got different widths for your feet! yay, width E. wheeeeee (:

gtg catch some sleep and (thinking of cheem word) er.. accost my bed. haha, wheeeeeeeeeeee

Sunday, August 27, 2006

wheeeeeee

omg, 75 pushups in 1minute plus. blood rush to muddy's head, all the better for mugging. heart beat quite powerful now, muahahahah, even better than running 2.4. muahahahhahaha (: have a nice and happy day (:

Saturday, August 26, 2006

day 43 (:

wheeeee, woke up at 7 and went for a nice run (: muahahahaha, ran to dover, had breakfast (tau huay is powerful stuff)! while running, stopped a couple of times to guess what? pick trash. yea.. was feeling damn gek abt all the litter lying around, on the grass patches, at the bus stops, at the small "park" at dover, everywhere. damn irritating lah, those bloody litterbugs, especially smokers. i used to be damn on, especially in primary 5 (see, good nanhua education thanks) but somehow, it died out.

anw today i decided that instead of feeling gek or guilty when walking past litter, muddy will actively help to keep singapore clean (: yay, i love singapore! yes.. the rubbish might seem never-ending, and people might give u weird stares... but just do it anyway. rj people, let's keep our sch clean! the lts are super littered, all the evil buggers who can't even bother to clean up after themselves.

was looking for a playground and found one! 3 red bars, 2 super low, and 1 then involved lots of jumping to reach. haha, 16! ggxx (: still 16 but 16 nice and proper ones! yes, stretching, muddy's going to get even more flexible! muahahahaha

this week went by super fast

anw, yesterday's gym session was super productive. van's classmates are damn cool, class gym session! and charmaine is mega strong muahahahhah!

back to the 6 week plan, update: muddy hit 120 for lats pull! and it wasn't really max because muddy did it TWICE! YES, just one more to more than cover muddy's weight!

lol, remebered some anime charater's quote that vanessa told me a long time ago, "I can't respect anyone who's weaker than me"

so muddy, what do you think? of course "strong" and powerful people earn my respect. then again, it's about trying and wanting to be your best.

we share the same coach as sji for canoeing. and there's this one sec 2 boy, he doesn't look like your average heavily muscled canoeist and he even gets owned at the pullup bar. but thru the june hols, i always see him training on sji's extra training days. from capping frequently in a k1, he managed to balance in it (:

and my powerful teammates, from zero ipus to 40, from 16 minutes 2.4 to 13.

these are strong motivations for muddy to train hard. btw, training with some random wong fei hong song, yes, that song, is conducive for pushing yourself.

woohoo, rj pe dept super cool (: can't believe pe lessons are over (no more pe next week) haha, and maybe muddy will consider writing an essay, "From zero to 15...+++" yay, saw the uncle at macritchie yesterday, haha, my running shifu, picked up loads of tips from him.

currently muddy thinks the best job is teching pe at rj. wheeeeee, the whole school will be super fit! hm. let me leave u with a happy thought, just imagine muddy teaching pe...

excellence day 40

watching spongebob now! yay (:

didn't feel very powerful this week, but today was imba! muahahahhaha, total 70 after water!

neil humphreys came to rj for gp talk today, must say he's a great speaker! for once the whole lt was paying attention! shucks, it's a waste he's going back to australia.

we must train harder. excellence. haha, i believe there's nothing wrong with being imba! muahahahahahaha (: believe you can do it and you will! anyone can do it too so long you're willing to train (practise day after day after day)

"People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it." --Anonymous

excellence. is that what being rafflesian is about? wheeeeeeeeee

"The vision of a champion is someone who is bent over, drenched in sweat, at the point of exhaustion when no one else is watching." Anson Dorrance

new challenge!

http://www.maniacworld.com/bruce_lee_3.htm
powerful!

muddy's new goal: do a couple of handstand pushups, one arm pushups (2 fingers!) and one arm pullups

yay, wikipedia has lots of good stuff on basic non-gym weight/resistance training!

the strongest diamonds are formed under the greatest pressure (:

day 38 (:

lol, xinying! ggxx i didn't sleep for physics, geog, math, er... break, haha, gp and pw! but i died during h3 physics!

yay, the start of another busy week! lots of stuff coming up.

yesterday muddy slept at 3.40am! pia maths assignment, mug differential equations, er.. organised my notes and ggxx, EOM! muahahahahahahha, die eom die!

lots of accomplishments... ate spinach yesterday, took injection without breaking the needle today! muahahahahhaha (:

anw, muddy is too stiff, help. haha, really, back muscles damn tight, it's super irritating lah, interfering with muddy's playing sessions.

but anw, guess what? surprisingly, the GP bk 1100 words is super fun to do! did 2 weeks worth in er... less than half an hour! brings back memories of those P6 assessment bk days!

wheeeee, jiayou sec 4s, have fun! your last exams in rg!

Sunday, August 20, 2006

wheeeee

die EOM die!

yay, less than an hour and eom ggxx! WHEEEEEEE

i feel super accomplished now, muahahahhaa, and differential equations and starting to make some sense! yay!

what a productive studying day (: finally got down to some serious work!

anw i figured i will only allow myself to study when i really want to study, haha, doesn't make sense? hm.. muddy figured there's no point trying to mug when you're thinking of stuff, or too tired to concentrate, so muddy rather chiong 2 solid hours of undisturbed mugging rather than 4 hours with lots of walking around the house (:

yay, happy (:

dragonboat! 36

another day without training... ok, not really, had dragonboat in the morning! uber fun, got to steer (coxswain)! yay, our back pack is super powerful and we own the front pack! MUAHAHAHHAHAHAHA (: wheeeeee, dragonboat super cool lah, and it helps muddy lian dong zhuo also. wheeeeeeee

the dragonboaters are super fit and muscular! haha, watching them do pullups is good motivation for muddy to train!

i wish i could just row and row and row. row through this year, row till next yr nats then WHACK! but that would be too easy, stuff like promos creates exciting challenges that muddy will overcome!

lol, can't imagine if i stop training completely. canoeing gives muddy lots of motivation to go to sch, study hard, be a good person (: that's how powerful it is.

random thought: there's nothing wrong starting off as the weakest, the slowest, the most pathetic, whatever else you can think of, but there's something wrong if you don't do anything about it. yes muddy, remember muddy's wise words, muahahahahha. 10 months plus to go, there's still time to wake up and push. tried this while setting new yr resolutions and somehow it works, so muddy take a good look at this:

this is your 6 week plan, 2 more weeks to go!

  • 20 pullups (possible, will keep playing during breaks!)
  • 100 pushups (have not tried yet, doable)
  • 80 IPUs (GGXX muddy has done it!) now will push for 100!
  • 6 min plank (have not tried yet, doable)
  • sub 11.30 (revised from sub 12) 2.4km (2 weeks muddy you CAN, that's only 1 minute down)
  • 14 plates for bench press (max 13 so far, that's all the little plates! CAN!)
  • 110 for lats pull (yay, can do 80 comfortable, 10reps of 100 and one rep max 110 DONE!) new target:120 max (lol, going to fly up soon!) hm....130 would be more than my weight already.

YES! powerful! go study now muddy! pain is temporary, pride is forever!

Raffles Canoeing- A Clash between idealism and reality

something i koped from one of my canoe senior, horse! thanks horse, it's a very powerfully written entry and a sincere, honest one too.

"Joining canoeing with no prior experience was quite literally a step out into deeper waters. Though a semifinals placing was the final reward for over a years expenditure of physical energy, mental strength, and time, the intangible benefits far outweighed what the final result might suggest. RJ Canoeing could be summed up as a perpetual clash between idealism and reality. Rafflesians, used to being at the top, sometimes hold a smug, foolish belief that being from Raffles means deserving success. Coming in dead last against others who were simply better at the NJCC in April, with many other teammates achieving similar results, foreshadowed a poor showing at the Nationals. But waking up to that brought new epiphanies. Kayaking in this context meant learning that even in a loss, there could be victory in the knowledge that one had tried one's best. It illuminated how even after pouring in lavish amounts of effort, one might still not succeed, a minor revelation in a sense, and it also helped one learn to accept it. Stepping out of the comfort zone in this manner helped reveal what one could achieve through effort and rigour, even as it exposed what one could not.

Medal hopes degenerating to a race with a teammate for the last competing berth shattered a year long dream that the entire team could compete together. Having something at a friend's expense highlighted the callous nature of sports and life starkly. But team spirit and friendships, especially in facing adversity, was a valuable and heartwarming experience. Knowing we were ultimately a team, even if individually we faltered, collectively we could not better our team placing, and even if some might even have misunderstood us as having failed, was a paradoxically undesired yet enjoyable emotion.Saying sports is not simply about winning suffices only on the most general level. The experiences derived from the time spent paddling at college remain fundamentally unique, and immeasurably valuable."

some random thoughts (practise GP!) Another inspiring bit by muddy to inspire muddy and er.. anyone who chances across this (:

what we lack in years of experience, we make up for it in passion and spirit. All of us chose to be here and that's what makes us special. We came knowing canoeing isn't an easy sport; it's tough by all measures. We've heard the horror stories (of crazy people running 10km and doing all sorts of rubbish), we took our detractors' doubt in our stride (Are you sure you want to join canoeing? Later get big and black). Some of us dreamt of being a raffles canoeist way before. Some of us were unsure, but made the commitment to stay on. Somehow, we're all here and that's what matters.

our competitors may have the $$$, the boats, the equipment, the support, basically everything we possibly want and disadvantaging us in every way possible, but there are several things they'll never be able to get nor take from us. They don't get the pride of being a raffles canoeist, nor the honour of wearing our team singlet. Passion and spirit. it's ours to protect and it will see us through if we believe.

As idealistic as it may sound, we're a team built on dreams. No raffles canoeist left not knowing what it means to dream. Despite our different backgrounds, we have one thing in common and that's our dream. our team goal: team gold. Every batch of raffles canoeists experiences the same struggle our seniors did as they fought for the title.

shucks, can't think of anything to type already, but just as well, the storey continues... the legend unfolds...

33

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE

today i did 3 x 1 backward pullups! WHEEEEEEEEEEE, powerful! yay, training today was good, as usual, room for improvement! haha, exponential improvement each training!

yay, thank you muddy, i'm super grateful for every pullup (:

yep, now whichever boat i use doesn't really matter, i've conquered 14,16 and 17! muahahahahhahah (:

day 33, 1 month already. i promise to train hard and i will.

popeye!

wheeeeeeeeee (: gym today was fun! haha, thanks chiam, boon, seetoh and shawn, training with you guys around makes muddy train even harder, muahahahhahaha! this will be an imba post abt how strong and powerful and nice muddy is haha so if gym stuff doesn't interest you then skip (:

yesterday i thought 100 was my one rep max weight.

"If what you did yesterday still looks big to you, then you must not have done anything today" random quote

and that was almost the case... doing 60 for lats pull until shawn came and changed to 80, then halfway through the third set, shawn came to change to 100! haha, thanks!

... and today i did 10 reps 100.

yay (: and yesterday was an accomplishment! muddy lifted all 13 of the small plates once! muahahahhahaha! and today, muddy tried something interesting! the real bench press, not the machine one! wheeeeeeeee, super fun, and it's a better workout too! did 30kg, 3 sets (15,15,20) . then gg-ed.

haha, and doing dips in the gym, hm... never could do the really nice one, then i saw how boon did and i tried... then it worked! wheeeeeeee (:

yay, mr go challenged us to rowing machine! 1km under 4 minutes, haha, then amusing watching the guys pia their guts out, the whole rowing machine ramming against the metal grills, but timing still cmi (for guys), haha. 500m i was still ok, then piak after that, not enough stamina. and er... lunch felt like it was coming out.

wheeeeeee, muddy was wondering what it's like to do 50 reps. yep, preparing for week 4, where it's 3 sets of 50 reps. so muddy thought, hm.. maybe it's suppose to be one or two plates, by the 40+ rep painful already. so muddy tries ONE plate, which haha, was obviously super doable. so muddy tries FOUR plates, and it's still doable, so just do, just whack , 50 reps...60...80...100...101! muahahahhaha, totally ownage! yep, so muddy figures a good weight would be 60% of your max weight.

yay, happy training (: water tmr! WHEEEEEEEEEE!

ok... and here's the interesting bit, realised i titled this post "popeye" why? because...

bernard has successfully convinced muddy to eat vegetables. because muddy wants to be super imba without whey supplements. btw, popeye's had imba forearms, not biceps! but he's still uber strong, so can! wheeeeee, remember playing those games on nitendo and the er.. machine before that, don't know what it's called, stuff that happened 13 years ago!

muddy officially declares WAR on spinach! MUAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

yes, to ensure muddy gets maximum nutrients from eating spinach, shall steam them at home instead! no oily soggy limp soya-sauced veggies. (yay, i did my wikipedia research on this) so this will start as soon as my dad goes to market, which is the weekend.

Popeye the Sailor has a strong affinity for spinach, and he becomes much stronger after consuming it.

- Popeye
I'm Popeye the Sailor Man,
I'm Popeye the Sailor Man.
I'm strong to the finich
Cause I eats me spinach.
I'm Popeye the Sailor Man.

I'm one tough Gazookus
Which hates all Palookas
Wot ain't on the up and square.
I biffs 'em and buffs 'em
And always out roughs 'em
But none of 'em gets nowhere.

If anyone dares to risk my "Fisk",
It's "Boff" an' it's "Wham" un'erstan'?
So keep "Good Be-hav-or"
That's your one life saver
With Popeye the Sailor Man.

I'm Popeye the Sailor Man,
I'm Popeye the Sailor Man.
I'm strong to the finich
Cause I eats me spinach.
I'm Popeye the Sailor Man.
http://www.toontracker.com/lyrics

anw, i think bernard will win $2 from some ancient bet he made with rng 4 months ago abt muddy eating veggies. yay, 50-50 (:

geog stuff

today
civics (er... etiquette self score)
pe electives(dragonboat on saturday)
break
physics test
break
civics
gp
sch ends!

lol, what an unproductive day, haha. and i must say it here, muddy TRIED very hard to stay awake during gp... but was unsuccessful. so anw, xinying, sau, the fellow ggxx people, well done for physics, well done! haha, we promise not to screw up our promos. geog and maths on the same day, gg!

anw, figured geog is a very interesting subject, it's all about perspectives! this is one subject that allows lots of room to think, to talk and discuss, the best thing abt geog is that there's no one right answer, yep, and everything that's happening around us is geog in some way so there, all the relevant case studies you need! yea.. apart from karst (limestone) landscape, whatever we've studied so far pretty much makes lots of sense!

wheeeee, and gg, figured i have a serious problem with spelling. simple words, ok, not that simple, but words with repeated letters, or non-root words, once i try to add the -ing, -ed, -ion, then cannot spell already. at least i blog and i bother to microsoft spell check, haha. solution? buy 1100 words you need to know! some shen gp assessment (hm... problem spelling here) book and actually get down to doing it.

something random, while reading newspaper today on the aids conference, it suddenly struck me that all those figures abt how many pple infected, how many dying, what it would cost to save a life, how much a new clinic would cost etc, was er... weird. read the report, you'll get what i mean. some bigshot up there takes precious time to come up with al these statistics and according (is this rite) to the writer, the way sata was collected isn't accurate at all. yea.. brings me back to our geog topic, UN projects that by 2050, world population will hit 7 billion, is 7 billion just a figure?

i think if you tell me singapore's population is going to hit 1 billion by then i'll be very very concerned, or even on a smaller scale, rjc is going to double student population next year. but the world population? yes, we are indeed connected with globalisation going on but i still don't see the big big picture of 7 billion people. lol, and philo thoughts, who knows, maybe the current world population of 3 billion is it? is not even correct! how do you know for sure that there are 2, 999,999,999 people other than you out there? have you seen them all for yourself? yea, so as you can tell, i'm unconvinced by numbers too big for me to see.

but then again, this whole population business is getting out of hand. read an article abt people debating on whether earth's resources are finite or infinite, because we don't exactly know how much of it is there. there is a cause for worry if you consider finite resouces plus growing population, anw something random, if resources were infinite, then no more econs! yea... i think it's well, don't know how to describe, that some countries (like sub saharan africa) start out on the losing (loseing? nah, losing) end right from the beginning because of poor climate. lol, i have a theory that if the whole of Africa could be irrigated by means of some miracle, then all is settled!

anw, was browsing for good geog articles and resources yesterday, check this out geog students: http://www.overpopulation.com http://enough_already.tripod.com/dalysimon.htm
haha, thank me for this (:

wheeeeeeeee, shall practise my gp skills here, though brief and quite unpro, haha, btw, if u realise poor spelling pls tell me, thanks (:

lalala

wheeeeeeeeeee, back from dinner!

yay, muddy totally ggfies at command and conquer! thank you thank you (:

ahhhhhh, time flies, without knowing it, it's already homework day! haha, sunday is homework day because that's when muddy is most motivated to do work!

wheeeeeee

muddy is powerful

MUAHHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA

a nice long week ahead, lots of things to look forward to, like playing!, water training, um.. land training, gym, run and run and run (muahahahha) and more playing! yay, muddy loves the playground, wheeeeeeeee (:

anw, muddy figures dragonboat and kayaking in the obs kayaks train your neck muscles.

wheeeeeee, time to go read economist and feel smart! muahahahhaha

day 30 aftermath of canoe duathlon

muahahahhaha, collapsed after reaching home yesterday. wheeeeeeeeeeee!

yesterday was run-canoe-run (canoe duathlon organised by ngee ann poly) haha, we got lost trying to find the starting point, but anw, about the race...

the 4km running bit was okay, found myself breathing damn heavily but still can run, haha, new technique? yep, then back for the canoe part with javine! WHEEEEEEEEE, sparrow we did it! btw, it was mega hot lah, 11am-12pm sun.

ahhhh, i miss mudzi and sparrow miss joshua also. the paddles were damn crappy and the boat... haha cmi lah. but it's not the boat, or the paddle, it's the rower!

one thing muddy figured abt partner races, there's even more motivation to push on 'cause you know whatever you do wouldn't just affect you. yep, haha, the canoe part seemed to go by very fast although we expected it to take damn long.

then we were back! and javine went running the 4km, overall we finished 5th, 1h 3 minutes 50 seconds. yep, all 14 of us went for the race! wheeeeeeee! really proud of us as a team, not everyone would be so psycho to wake up on a saturday morning to come run 4km and canoe 8km at the polluted kallang river. felt powerful cheering and yamseng-ing, wheeeeeeeeeee!

but the point is, pj owned us. yea, must admit, they are good and they will be strong contenders next year. thankfully we came for this race, i rather we get all our shocks now then later. eh sparrow, promise, this won't be our last!

yep, so prize presentation over, got our goodie bag with loads of np freshmen orientation merchandise (some expired, haha) and guess where we went?

dragonboat! haha, told you we are imba. yep, the chicken rice from the army market food centre was shiok (thanks for lunch jameson and tim), super fun eating along er... the polluted kallang river, nice scenary and wind! wheeeeee!

yay, dragonboat is damn cool! saw the women's national team training. omg, they are powerful to the max! super fast, super precise, super coordinated. haha, these 2 guys, hannah, me, yang and java were the back pack aka the six pecs! wheeeeeeeeeeee

back pack hard 10 (strokes) ready! engines of the boat! yay, our boat had rather good coordination and skill for noobs but we had unfair advantage, our boat had less barnacles? haha

yep, mr go said we're better than expected for beginners! muahahahha, he's our canoe teacher i/c and a dragonboater! kallang is like his home, haha.

yay, after that we went to play! thanks mr go! yay, muddy loves the pullup bars there, think all of us loved it too! rusty, but somehow it's a comfortable grip! can't wait to go there next week!

thought the day's over? it's around 6 pm after all that washing up. off to army market food centre (golden mile complex) saw the evil char kway teow stall and resisted the temptation! muahahah, sugarcane and tangyuan was ggxx nice (: then went to walk walk army market! yay! all the nice and shiny badges, ranks (:

btw, ever noticed kampong glam and "glam" have the same spelling?

yep, so that concludes a long day, reached home 9 plus. wheeeeeeeee

thanks friends (:

This is muddy's blog (:

Today, muddy takes a lesson in treasuring friends. Welcome back to reality muddy! You are lucky to be surrounded by many many nice people! wheeeeeeeee (: hm... yes, powerful, muddy. yufang and bernice and all the sec 4s, happy EOYs! after that you'll be free! as free as a squirrel doing pullups!

ahhh, jing! wheeeeeee, let's go crash some sln soon! muahahhahahha (:

canoe duathlon tmr! dragonboat! wheeeeeee (:

MUAHAHHAHAHAHHA, for the record, today muddy got owned while running 2.4 trial, 12.39.

and muddy owned the playground, 15! thank you, thank you (:

and the smaller playground got owned too, 80 ipus, thanks (:

yes, muddy feels imba today, lol, muddy has two new insights today! the first was during econs tutorial, suddenly it struck muddy; the secret to not capping in a k1/k2.

and see, one day has 24 hrs and many many things can happen, good stuff, bad stuff. and come to think of it, the only time when muddy actually gets to think through stuff is like... now, haha. every day, the events and happenings seem to play like a video clip in muddy's head (see, good memory)

The Paradoxical Commandments
People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered.Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable. Be honest and frank anyway.
The biggest person with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest person with the smallest mind. Think big anyway.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Build anyway.
People really need help but may attack if you help them. Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you have and you might get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you've got anyway. Dr. Kent M. Keith

Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces,I would still plant my apple tree.

happy training! day 27

omg, i love my team (: they are powerful people! muahahahha, yes, we are getting somewhere... and somewhere far! yay, nothing beats watching a teammate zoom past in their craft, or watching a new k2 partnership get to the 500m mark. lol, then again, muddy hardly looked around, except while turning, haha (: yes... row with our hearts and we will fly! hm.. if you really love rowing, i think it shows in your er... row! haha (:

today was water training and it was great! for myself, third time rowing with shawna i think (the last we did was in February or something? lol) and the glide! 11km for k2, first time in my life! max i did was 8km? and it was painful, haha. totally tore the waters apart shawna! yay, thanks (: my fastest rowing experience in a K2 ever and u noe what? we are like how stable, muddy can afford to try some super kick or imba stroke and we still won't cap! hm... if you're reading this, think positive happy thoughts when rowing! it helps to lighten the boat and make us fly! hope you had a great time (: anw, muddy concludes you are the most experienced k2 rower among us (:

and k1 today was imba! number 16! heard there's no buoyancy but muddy's glad muddy tried 16! yep, way out of comfort zone number 14! it went quite well, especially the second time coming back from 500 mark. haha, jiaolian told us to stay around 500 mark in case we need our T1 lifeguards to save us (: muddy thinks javine rescued muddy a gabillion times, haha, 4?

and surprise! super unexpected, saw 2 tarbet sec 1s (now sec 2s) at macritchie rowing the recre open decks!

anw, muddy figured the team has many tall people, if yang tinggi, muddy will get owned!

yay, muddy is thrilled by the water rushing past! and the nice perfect strokes that seem so synchro with the kicking, your breathing, the boat gliding, nice, very nice (: it feels good rowing!

time for spongebob then work!

raffles row!

ndp 2006

One day without training makes muddy feel very weird.

anw, happy birthday singapore! i'm proud to be a singaporean! and i am proud to declare i sing the national anthem during morning assemblies (despite my very koyak voice) so those with nice voices especially, just sing! and be patriotic singaporeans! it's like super cool to sing the national anthem lah. wheeeeeee, can't wait for the next ndp! haha (: the best part of the parade was.... not the commandos (they're the second best part)

the two female commanders! powerful and super super cool. air force and police, nice (: marching in front of 55,000 +++ people, your contingent marching with you, and the whole parade following you, the sword, the salute, wheeeeeeeeee (:

haha, to be fair, the commado commander was super zai also, got the impactful cutting, haha. didn't really like the gun salute this year, but the marching is way cool, especially looking from the tv angle, get to see ALL of the guard of honour contingents marching, super neat!

yay (:

played loads of command and conquer the last 2 days, haha, owning the computer!

on days like this, muddy gets random thoughts, like wishing muddy could just train and train and train, haha (:

yay, joan liew the bodybuilder is featuring in mind your body tmr! yay (: go read!

and guess what? joscelin yeo got some national day award, powerful! and she was the youngest recipient of the public service star at age 14! for winning an imba number of gold medals (was it 7 or 9, something like that) yay, i hope one day (preferably soon (: ) she makes it to olympics and own everyone there!

yay, so today, the 2 female commanders join my list of admired people (whom i don't know personally) (: haha, don't know most of their names though, so far there's er..

  • the only woman in Naval Diving Unit, read abt her in a newspaper article 2 years back
  • ahhh, what's her name again, the JTC person who took me for work experience, ms tang waiyee i think
  • a random west coast macs branch manager
  • joscelin yeo (swimmer)
  • joan liew (bodybuilder)

ok, muddy's very happy now (: something random: thanks lulu, was looking around m room and saw the ice cream stick wardrobe you made for chicky (: heart to heart!

i think i have problems spelling. especially words like receive, er.. embarassing, refinery and er... many more, haha. they seem to confuse muddy alot.

a powerful day

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, 24!

i feel powerful today! thanks gary, we did it! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

see, the day got better as it progressed. physics tutorial was ok, felt a little enlightened about waves, then geog lecture! omg, mr eric lee came to lecture! super cool, first time i didn't sleep in lecture for a long while, haha, thanks shawna for the feedback! then maths lecture, quite ok, then break! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, got back result slip, haha, decent enough, but room for improvement!

GP was essay writing, lol, didn't get owned as much as i expected, then PW was painful, but stil made it through w/o sleeping. hey, actually i didn't doze off in class today! must be the therapeutic naps on sunday.

then went to play! played first, then ipu, lol, muahahahhha, got owned by the ipu bar after that. saved by the bell! total score: 70, 100! wheeeee, H3 physics, felt super smart! thanks ms ning for photonics last yr, haha, photonics is a good break from all that relativity theory. slept for 5 minutes or so only, it's a record! yay, i like this teacher, don't know what her name is, her notes and ppt and presentation style makes so much sense, and she's knowledgeable too! finally a teacher who knows what she's talking about, nice (:

haha, TWENTY SIX rounds! 10.4km! powerful or powerful? yea... running anywhere else apart from the track is fun, but so is running on the track! figured it trains mental stamina too! wheeeeeeeeeee, yay, this breaks my standard chartered record of running 10km! wheeeeeee (:

and tmr is an exciting day! national day is drawing nearer!

yay, i can't wait! 18 hours to go! then it's time to run! muahahhahahaha! yay, i shall look forward to that! 1.5 hrs of GP followed by 1.5 hrs PW, then break (play!) then AHHHHHHHHH H3 physics! 4-6pm. ok, i can do this, tmr is a powerful day! muahahahahhahaha

23 (:

wheeeeee, i woke up at 7, then it was raining, so plans to run got gg-ed, slept, woke up at 10! then hm.. slept from 11-1, 2-3, 5-8, so far that's 16 hours in a day! muahahahahaha, sleep debt. and somehow i squashed in revising physics.

anw, muddy's super happy now, dinner was fish and chips! the point is, the fish was shaped like the singapore map! WHEEEEEEE, how cool is that? and it wasn't on purpose! haha, yay, NATIONAL DAY!! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

and tmr is an exciting day! H3 physics! haha, exciting part is after that! WHEEEEEEEEEEE (: can go run! yay (:

lalala (:

wheeee

i've finally figured out what's bothering muddy the past few days. something just doesn't feel right.

when with competitors, don't care, don't give chance, just whack. but with team mates shouldn't it be a different story altogether? even if we end up racing against each other, we still a raffles canoeing team. the value of a team championship compared to an individual gold medal, uncomparable.

if everyone wanted only the glam jobs, we won't be able to go much further from where we are now. training hasn't kicked into full swing yet, maybe that's why we're not feeling it. training is about the team. training is exciting to look forward to because of the people. personally, of course you can choose and get more control when you train alone/focus on yourself only, but the team pushes you to go places you never thought you could go.

see, you set a target of 15 rounds for yourself, and let's say you're dying already (haha) but finishishing, just 100metres to go. then your team mate comes along and says "hey, why don't you go one more round?"

will you run? it's getting painful and it's been half an hour and there are better things to do (like play!) getting a little dizzy from running around the track, getting bored, wanting to stop. tired?

haha, if i were you, i will run! and run! and run!

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

good logic isn't it? i just thought of it, haha.

moral of the story,

i better go sleep now.

MUAHAHHAHAHHAHA

hm.. i think running rounds at the track is good for muddy, get to train some mental stamina. haha, besides, it's convenient. ok, when i get more powerful then can go run to macritchie.

anw, moral of the story, hm.. train together, fight together.

a random good quote "frienships can make victories last forever"

wheeeeeeeeeeeee (: homework day has just begun!

day 21 i'm surviving!

wheeeeeeeee

what a busy week, i'm glad it finally ended! especially the evilest of evil geog population term paper. haha, started yesterday, did till 4am this morning and decided to take a short nap of 15 min, the next thing i knew, it was 6am already! haha, gao gao xing xing. yea, so chiong-ed geog during break, finished the singapore part in 45 min! i'm super pro (:

wheeeee, xinying! fellow ggxx, hope you had a great week (: haha, think we do lots of stupid things, i thought my geog was dead until i met you in the morning! as dead as mine, lol! ok, here's to a better and less screwed week (:

wheeeeeeeeeeee, haven't been blogging for a couple of days. water training on wednesday! woohoo! powerful, thanks joohui (: we can do it! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA, felt good, seeing the glide, feeling your surroundings flash past from your peripheral view. nice... haha, forgot to tape then halfway realised er... my skin got stuck on the paddle grip? lol. feels good to be in the water, ok, maybe not in, but on (:

thursday gym. our J7 senior came back to talk to us, what he said definitely made alot of sense. yea.. i'm thankful he came back, because he taught me to dream as high and far as i can, all in that hour or so. reality hit us smack in the face, do we run? of course we run... that's the new secret weapon (: haha, we will run, and run, and come back to fight! in 2000, the girls team swept all the gold medals. let them be an inspiration to us.

went for a run after that, nice and cooling, comfortable enough pace to talk (new strategy). yea... muddy's first time trying that, haha, fun, thanks (: and all the lights were switched off, dark. the breeze, the darkness, the track, running and running.

and today, ogl interview, yea, think i said all i wanted, then went to play and run after that! wheeeeeee, oh btw, pe we played handball, kiat yee, eunice and julee are imba fast and pro. then omg, SOCCER with huijuen! MUAHAAHHAHAHAH, we are how noob now (actually still quite pro but getting old) yay, goes all the way back to our rg soccer club days, haha. what a great way to end the school week.

NATIONAL DAY! exciting! my favourite event of the year is coming right up, and the parade awaits! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

MT (day 18)

wheeeeeee

"we might have lost the battle, but we haven't lost the war!" muahahahha, well said! MT (:

went to walk walk macritchie today, met the nice uncle again. super cool, yes, time to run for long spans of time, 1 hour or 2 hour runs will be good.

The Man Who Thinks He Can --> -->
If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you'd like to win but you think you can't,
It's almost a cinch you won't.
If you think you'll lose, you're lost,
For out of the world we find
Success begins with a fellow's will -
It's all in the state of mind.
If you think you're outclassed, you are;
You've got to think high to rise;
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life's battle doesn't always go
To stronger or faster men;
But sooner or later the man who wins,
Is the one who thinks he can.
-- Walter D. Wintle

Truth or Dare --> -->
"Truth": DON'T EVER LET THEM SEE YOU CRY
Dare to let them see your tears
"Truth": DON'T EVER LET THEM SEE YOU SWEAT
Dare to let them see your toils
"Truth": DON'T EVER LET THEM SEE YOU FALTER
Dare to let them see your mistakes
"Truth": DON'T EVER LET THEM SEE YOU SUFFER
Dare to let them see your pain
"Truth": DON'T EVER LET THEM SEE YOU BLEED
Dare to let them see your wounds
"Truth" or Dare
the choice is yours
Accept the "truths"
and you may be considered wise
but within you may feel empty
Risk the dares
and you may be taken for a fool
but blessed with feeling whole
And while you anguish
let them learn from
your grace
as you survive
amidst your
tears
sweat
mistakes
pain
and wounds
You are human
let it be
and let them see
how you strive
to set yourself free
